Check Grundy County Court Calendar

Start with the court named on your notice. Each Grundy County court keeps its own docket, so no single Grundy County court calendar covers every hearing in the county. The Circuit, General Session, Chancery, Juvenile, and city courts each schedule their own settings for motions, pleas, docket calls, and trials. A docket lookup can show when a case is set, but only the clerk can confirm a date that has moved or seems unclear. Treat the calendar as a planning tool rather than a summons or court order, and confirm anything close at hand before you head to a hearing.

The Grundy County Court Calendar

There is no single Grundy County court calendar. Circuit and criminal dates flow from Twelfth Judicial District rules. They also flow from the clerk's current records. General Sessions settings live in the county case portal and with the clerk. Chancery keeps its own published calendar plus a request-to-docket process. Municipal settings stay with the city court that issued the notice. Each channel covers a separate docket stream.

Remember that a calendar is a planning record, not a summons. Recurring dates shift for holidays, judicial conferences, special settings, later orders, or the judge's direction. The current notice and a clerk's confirmation matter most. Begin with the court name and case number. Then compare the latest docket entry against the paper or electronic notice you received.

Grundy Court Calendar Rhythm

The Twelfth District local rules lay out recurring criminal events: Grand Jury, Boundover dates, Discussion Day, plea or assignment settings, and motion dates. Each label marks a distinct step. Discussion Day is not automatically a trial. Under the local rule, it works as a case-management day when counsel and the prosecutor discuss pending matters, the clerk calls the roll, and defendants required to attend are expected in court.

Grand Jury
A scheduled session at which jurors consider whether charges should proceed by indictment.
Boundover
A setting tied to a matter moving from a lower court toward Circuit Court.
Discussion Day
A criminal case-management setting, not a final hearing by default.
Docket call
The court calls listed matters and sets their status or next step.

Treat the Twelfth District local rules as a recurring framework only. For a specific Grundy County case, ask the Circuit Court Clerk whether the date has changed.

How to Find Your Court Date

Use whatever channel fits your court. For Circuit or General Sessions matters, search Grundy County Online Court Records. If the portal is unclear, call the Circuit Court Clerk. You can also bring the notice and case number to the counter. On the day of court, consult the posted docket or courtroom call. An attorney can confirm the operative order. Chancery parties should check the published calendar and the Clerk and Master. Municipal parties should contact the city clerk. Tennessee Public Case History becomes useful only after a case reaches an appellate court.

  1. Read the court name and case number from the newest notice.
  2. Search the matching online docket or published calendar.
  3. Compare the next setting with any later order or reset entry.
  4. Call or visit the correct clerk with the case details.
  5. Confirm the date, time, place, and appearance method near the setting.

Grundy Court Calendar Zoom Days

The public Chancery calendar names District Zoom Days and supplies meeting credentials. Remote access stays narrow. Those days cover only uncontested divorces, motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and announcements of settled cases. Default judgments and contested hearings that need witnesses are excluded. Attorneys must still follow courtroom-attire rules.

A matter that is not preset may appear at the appropriate call by Zoom. Jury demands appear at docket call. Not every Grundy County Chancery event runs remotely. Confirm your appearance method with the Clerk and Master. The court offers no public livestream, no walk-in hearing terminal, and no universal remote access.

Remote-setting limit: A Zoom label does not convert a contested witness hearing or default judgment into a remote matter.

Reading a Court Setting

Read a setting as one dated instruction inside the case history. The event type hints at the task, but the latest order controls. A docket call may group many cases at once. A special set reserves time for a particular matter. A preset lands on the calendar in advance. Does the portal omit a courtroom or appearance method? Do not guess from an old setting.

DateThe scheduled day, subject to a later reset or order.
TimeThe docket-call time or an individual time, not an arrival estimate.
CourtroomThe assigned room or location; confirm it when absent.
JudgeThe judicial officer or court division assigned to the event.
Setting typeThe purpose, such as motion, discussion, plea, hearing, or trial.

Grundy Court Calendar Timing

Civil non-jury settings run on a written request process. The local rules require certain items. The case name comes first. They also need the docket number, requested date, attorneys, contested or uncontested status, estimated time for a contested matter, and certification that the case is ready. The clerk should normally receive the request at least seven days before the desired date.

The written docket is prepared five days before court, with uncontested matters first. A filed motion can still miss the next Grundy County calendar. Something in the request may fall short. That could be the notice, the timing, readiness, or the written request. A special setting can also absorb the remaining docket capacity.

Note: A filing date and a hearing date are separate entries.

Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations

A continuance moves a scheduled event. A reset places it on a new date. A cancellation removes the event without necessarily dismissing the case. The Grundy County docket may show the old event and a later replacement. A printed calendar can go stale. Read entries in date order and look for a signed order.

Recurring settings shift for holidays, conferences, conflicts, unavailable hearing time, or judicial direction. Ask the clerk about the matter. Is it continued, reset, disposed, or still pending? Write down the name of the person you contacted and the date of confirmation. If counsel represents you, check with counsel too. The operative notice may have been served through the case.

The directory helps you tell Circuit, Criminal, and Chancery listings apart. Federal bankruptcy runs on an entirely different calendar. The Eastern District of Tennessee Bankruptcy Court publishes that federal docket on its own site.

A federal case involving a Grundy County party stays out of the county portal entirely. Track it through the federal notice and the PACER docket instead.

Grundy Court Calendar Appeals

Appeals live in a different system. Tennessee Public Case History picks a matter up only once it enters the appellate courts. Even then it is no stand-in for the Grundy trial calendar. What it offers is a record of milestones, dated events, and filed documents. One public example comes from the Tennessee Supreme Court. Its February 25, 2026 opinion grew out of Grundy County proceedings. The official opinion page holds the full text of that decision.

That published event marks a state appellate milestone, not the current court date of some other local case.

What to Do If You Miss a Setting

Move quickly after a missed setting. Pull the newest docket entries. Call the clerk for the court that set the hearing. Give the clerk the case number, party name, missed date, and type of setting. Ask whether the judge entered an order, issued a warrant, changed bond, took a default, dismissed a claim, or set a new date. The clerk can explain what the court record says but cannot hand out legal advice.

Missed a Setting? A criminal absence can lead to failure-to-appear action, a warrant, or bond consequences, while a civil absence may lead to an adverse order.

Contact the clerk and your attorney at once. Do not assume a portal search has fixed the missed appearance.

Ask a licensed Tennessee attorney how to address the specific Grundy County order before appearing.

A municipal matter belongs with that city court, not the county clerk. Chancery cases go to the Clerk and Master. Keep proof of any later written instruction, and confirm the new date shortly before the hearing.
